New Bedford

Video

Description

I left Boston on MBTA purple line commuter rail train to New Bedford but I transferred to another train to New Bedford at East Taunton station because my train directed to Fall River. Arriving New Bedford during raining weather, I walked to Subway for lunch then to Arpeggio cafe for dessert, then walked around downtown a little bit, then stopped by at SRTA (Southeast Regional Transit Authority) to see what’s new about buses, and then I walked back to the train station returning to Boston.

Lyric

(Verse 1)
Down by the harbor where the salt air rides,
White-sails of history drift through old sky tides,
The Whaling Museum stands, silent in its pride,
Bones of the ocean’s giants, tales past denied.

Ferries rocking gently at the weathered wharf,
Yachts with polished decks reflect what time offsets,
Seagulls trace the currents, wings spread like soft morph,
Each wave telling echoes no one forgets.

(Chorus)
New Bedford mornings, rising with the sun,
Between wharf and zoo and rails, the city’s heart still runs.
SRTA buses rumbling, MBTA rails that hum,
And a cup of laughter at Arpeggio when the day’s begun.

(Verse 2)
Buttonwood Zoo’s paths wind through leafy green,
Lemurs leap in sunlight, and tigers day-dream,
Children’s laughter rings, feeding ducks at the pond scene,
In every gentle roar a city redeemed.

SRTA buses weaving maps across the streets,
Stopping where lives converge— old friends, new meets,
Conductor calls, the doors unfold, footsteps repeat,
On asphalt veins the lifeblood pulses fleet.

(Bridge)
And when the tracks of MBTA slice the dawn’s first glow,
Commuter rails pulling souls where daily hopes flow,
From New Bedford lights to Boston’s distant show,
We ride the rails of longing; still, we love to go.

(Verse 3)
Arpeggio Café on a corner steaming warm,
Baristas greet sunrise, in the calm before the storm,
Espresso cups humming soft in early morn,
Mocha memories born to keep the heart from torn.

The salty air, the roaring creatures in tombs,
The flicker of footstep on cobblestone wharf looms,
Westport breeze and Port adding to the rooms,
Where yacht masts cast shadows over ocean glooms.

(Chorus)
New Bedford mornings, rising with the sun,
Between wharf and zoo and rails, the city’s heart still runs.
SRTA buses rumbling, MBTA rails that hum,
And a cup of laughter at Arpeggio when the day’s begun.

(Outro)
So here’s to you, New Bedford—your stories, your shores,
From Whaling Museum walls to café open doors,
We carry your song wherever time explores,
In yacht’s gentle sway, in track’s distant roars.
