East Taunton

Story

East Taunton MBTA (Purple Line) commuter rail station. I rode my bike on route 140. I saw electric GATRA buses. The weather was so hot as 93 degrees so I stopped by Wendy’s for cheeseburger, fries and diet coke for lunch. I stopped by front driveway entrance of Taunton High School and saw their sign saying 91 degrees. I headed to Downtown Taunton on route 44). It is in southeastern Massachusetts.

Lyric

(Verse 1)
Rolling through East Taunton morning,
GATRA buses hum beneath the sky,
Windows fog with hopeful yawning,
As kids clutch books, their dreams held high.
Crumbling pavement, familiar skyline,
Emerging sun above the mill,
Friends wave at the corner lifeline,
This is home, this is real.

(Pre-Chorus)
Steel rails whisper in the distance,
An MBTA train on silver track,
Carrying futures, carrying instance,
Between the city’s now and what’s coming back.

(Chorus)
Oh, East Taunton, breathe in deep,
From the bus stop to the high school peak,
Downtown lights when the nightbird creeps,
You’re the heart I search for when I sleep.
Through GATRA’s wheels and whispering rails,
Through locker doors and cheering trails,
East Taunton, I carry you in all I say,
Till the commuter’s horn calls another day.

(Verse 2)
At Taunton High, the hallway’s echo,
Of locker slams, laughter, locker fights,
Teachers teaching where hopes grow,
Under fluorescent hums and Friday nights.
Seagulls sweep above the river,
Where Main Street meets slow porch swing,
Downtown storefronts make me shiver,
In the songs that old church bells ring.

(Pre-Chorus)
The MBTA pulls out at sunrise,
Dragging steel through coastal air,
GATRA routes are painted skies,
Linking dreams from here to everywhere.

(Chorus)
Oh, East Taunton, breathe in deep,
From the bus stop to the high school peak,
Downtown lights when the nightbird creeps,
You’re the heart I search for when I sleep.
Through GATRA’s wheels and whispering rails,
Through locker doors and cheering trails,
East Taunton, I carry you in all I say,
Till the commuter’s horn calls another day.

(Bridge)
Whispered prayers in chapel shadows,
River breeze through ancient stone,
Every block recalls tomorrow,
In the way the old mills groan.
Brick by brick, bus by route,
Train by track, school’s loud shout,
Downtown’s pulse, heartbeat’s bout,
This small town’s magic, there’s no doubt.

(Chorus — Final)
Oh, East Taunton, breathe in deep,
From the bus stop to the high school peak,
Downtown lights when the nightbird creeps,
You’re the heart I search for when I sleep.
Through GATRA’s wheels and whispering rails,
Through locker doors and cheering trails,
East Taunton, I carry you in all I say,
You’re my love, in every single day.
